In Hawaiian, “kauwela” means summer, and Luna transports the player to a beautiful island with captivating artwork and authentic tones. Whether a player is learning ukulele at home or bringing the show on the road with an included gigbag, the Uke Kauwela Summer Concert is a fun and reliable musical companion for strumming in any season.
The flat top artwork of the Uke Kauwela Summer Concert is both warm and inviting, featuring a sailboat overlooking surfers as they take on the waves of the Pacific Ocean, with volcanoes in the distance and a gorgeous sunset in the sky. The scene is colorful and playful, but players soon discover this ukulele is not a toy. The maple body and spruce top provide full-bodied, well-balanced sound. The 15-inch concert size is a step up from the smallest soprano-style ukulele, offering 19 frets for players to reach more notes with rich, warm tones. The comfortable C-shape of the neck and the 1 3/8-inch nut width further enhance playability, while a bone nut and pau ferro bridge help improve sustain.
In addition to high-quality tone woods, the Uke Kauwela Summer Concert has a set neck construction to enhance tonal resonance between the body and the okoume neck, which offers the rich look of mahogany and the right amount of tonal brightness. The pau ferro fretboard has a depth and warmth that’s similar to rosewood, with smooth playability akin to ebony. Luna adds its signature touch with Pearloid Moon Phase inlays, a suitable contrast to the hazy Kauwela Summer sun.
Luna rounds out the high-quality appointments of the Uke Kauwela Summer Concert with chrome hardware and open gear pearloid button tuners that help to maintain tuning stability. In addition to the Kauwela Concert, the Kauwela series also includes a Soprano, a Concert with Preamp, and a Tenor model.
